Cette chanson a été inspirée par le célèbre roman fantastique de Honoré de Balzac “La peau de chagrin”, publié en 1831.
“Un matin de 1832, ruiné par le jeu, Raphaël de Valentin est sur le point de se jeter dans la Seine pour mettre fin à une vie qu'il juge ratée. Quelques mois auparavant, il rêvait encore que l'œuvre qu'il écrivait lui apporterait gloire, argent et reconnaissance.
Un étrange antiquaire lui propose alors une peau de chagrin (peau d’onagre) capable d'exaucer ses vœux.
En contrepartie, cette dernière rétrécit à chaque fois, le rapprochant peu à peu de son dernier souffle.”

This song was inspired by ''La peau de chagrin", the famous fantasy novel written by Honoré de Balzac in 1831.
" One morning in 1832, ruined by gambling, Raphael de Valentin is about to jump into the Seine to put an end to a life he considers to be a failure. A few months earlier, he still dreamed that the work he had written would bring him fame, money and recognition. A strange antique dealer then offers him a magic skin able to grant all his wishes. However, the latter shrinks each time one wish is granted, gradually bringing him closer to his last breath."

Thus began the fury tale since the deal had been sealed
But sores remained open though many lives I lived
